Diane and Kyle show up early to the ranch since he doesn’t have school. Kyle has his hockey equipment (which nothing will ever come between). Victor can’t show the grounds because he’s busy with a legal matter, but he sends Kyle off to the chef to fuel up to go skating. Diane says she’ll check out the wing she’s to renovate on her own and points out how he’s keeping her busy. Victor hopes she’ll reconsider them moving in.

Billy comes in looking for his keys. Victoria shows him where he put them and they talk about the switch of rolls. Last night Victoria was upset and Billy comforted her, now it’s the reverse. He promises he’s “handling” the baby situation. Nikki arrives and Billy leaves, making a phone call to Primrose who wants to know if the funds are ready for the baby girl to wake up in her new home. Billy needs to discuss a few things first.

Nick calls Jack who is in Hawaii, already picking up on local slang apparently; “brah”. They talk about the possibility of Victor setting up Adam. Jack things Victor is bluffing; they agree to keep each other updated. Sharon shows up at the tack house. She wants to talk about the custody fight but Nick wants to talk about Hawaii. Sharon wonders why he wants to discuss it now.

Dressing after stripping for Primrose, Billy questions the $2 million price tag. He wants the baby before he hands over the money. Primrose is willing to give a picture but that’s not enough for Billy.

Victoria reminisces about a year ago when Billy was a smartass punk but now he’s the one who gets her through everything. She’s sure he’ll get her through this too, but she wishes she could help him too. Nikki agrees that she has too much going on right now what with the doctor’s news and the mediation. She wishes Victoria and Victor could just work it out. Victoria kind of cruelly points out that Nikki couldn’t know how bad it got because she got sick and Nikki apologizes for not being there. But she’s sober now and going to help if she can. She says Victor regrets that it’s gotten to this point, but Victoria thinks he regrets Abby and herself growing backbones. Nikki hopes that since she has made peace with Victor, Victoria and Abby can too. She says the only thing holding them back is Newman pride.

Victor says that a hotel is a no place for a growing boy to which Diane wonders how any child survives without a private pond. Victor says it’s a means to an end, but Diane is sceptical of who’s means and what end.

At the shop in Hawaii, Jack makes small talk with the owner (Koa). Another guy shows up from a trip to Tahiti and greets Jack. New guy (I’ll call him Blondie, couldn’t catch his name) says he’ll point him in the right direction but that Jack never heard it from him. Manly handshake ensues.

Nick says he now wants to know what happened in Hawaii. He’s just trying to understand but Sharon wonders if he wants more evidence against her in family court. She vows to never be separated from Faith again, but Nick says it’s Adam’s fault and that he never said Sharon couldn’t come visit. She scoffs at needing permission and his supervision and says it’s insulting and over with; she’s taking Faith and doesn’t care what he says.

Billy continues to insist on proof of a real baby. She says there are many others willing to hand over the money for a chance at a baby but Billy calls her bluff when he doubts that all those others have $2 million.

Victoria say to Nikki that Victor just wants mini-Victors. Nikki responds by saying their relationship is more than just business; he ADORES her. Victoria wonders if Victor has some deep well of love locked up in his poor damaged heart and wonders if that’s what’s kept Nikki hanging on for all these years. Victoria thinks he sees her as a disgruntled employee that told him to go to hell. She wants what she deserves after years of helping build NE – after all, Victor always does. She’s learned from the master. Nikki is angry too but after Christmas she refuses to believe he’s a lost cause. She wants to get through it as a family, but Victoria says he’s not her family. He cost her her family. He lost her Reed and had her arrested on her wedding day despite knowing she was pregnant. Maybe she could still be pregnant – but Victor took it from her and she’ll never get it back.

Diane says that Victor isn’t the something for nothing type. She wants to know what’s his something. He claims he wants her around for the renovation. After all, he pays her for perfection. She flirts, he chuckles. Kyle back, wiping his face and raving over the egg and bacon sandwich. (Guess they don’t have Tim Hortons in Genoa City) Diane wants to know how he feels about living at the ranch. AWE-SOME! Starting when? Diane guesses that’s a yes.

Jack and Blondie go all surfer dude watching Tahiti surfing videos on Blondie’s iPhone. Juicy waves, Jack comments, as his brother would say. He wants to know where the scenery is so he can feel closer to his brother. Koa interrupts to avoid Blondie from giving Jack directions but he continues anyway which includes passing a shack that just burned down. How does a shack burn down in the jungle? Jack wants to know.

After taking a call on his cell, Sharon is glad that Nick has his cell phone always ready, so he can call the police when Sharon takes Faith home. He insists he’s just protecting his daughter. He does agree that Faith can’t handle losing a mother a third time (after Sharon and then Ashley). He won’t fight Sharon taking Faith as long as she stays on the ranch and has no guests without his approval. She wonders if Nick thinks she’ll take Faith to visit Adam in jail. If she’s willing to meet him halfway, Faith can have both her parents. Sharon picks up the monitor when Faith starts fussing and agrees to Nick’s terms. She listens while Nick coos to Faith about her mommy being there.

Primrose brings baby Daisiel to see Billy and instructs him to remove his phone from his pocket; he’s not to take photos. Primrose teases Billy, asking if he can picture the precious bundle someday calling him and his wife mummy and daddy.

Nikki is surprised that Victoria still blames Victor for the miscarriage. Victoria points out that he had her arrested and after fighting over and over, suddenly her pregnancy was over. And then when he said he was sorry about the baby, he encouraged her to divorce Billy. She’s not sure if she really blames Victor but knows that was the day she joined Abby in her lawsuit. Nikki wants things resolved before it builds up further to which Victoria replies that that’s what she’s doing with the lawsuit. A knock at the door – it’s Vance! Looking sober and refreshed and exclaiming it’s a beautiful day for mediation. Nikki makes her exit with a wistful glance from the door.

No, Kyle hasn’t ridden a horse before but it would be cool. Victor expects them to move in tomorrow, since Diane has so little to pack. Victor is looking forward to seeing them tomorrow. But Bonnie will show him the grounds first.

Vance is giddy with some inside information that will make their case and break his.

Victor leaves a message for Michael to call him before the mediation; he wants to be prepared and know what to expect.

Talk in Hawaii turns to the burnt out shack. Apparently some chick was squatting there and then one day – boom. It happened a couple days ago. Reports say the place was empty – where’s the chick? That’s Hawaii – people come and go. Maybe she’s just chasing part of the dream. Koa glares at them.

Jack is checking out the ruins of Skye’s home. Poor Skye – was this the last place you ever called home?

Sharon and Faith are playing in her old home. Faith spits out a “mama” before fussing some more.

Nikki barges into the main house – thank goodness you’re still here! Victor looks up from his file and reminds her that she doesn’t need permission to see the horses. But it isn’t about the horses – it’s about the mediation. She’s wasting her time and his. It wasn’t a waste of time when he came to Victoria’s on Christmas. Again, she’s wasting her time and his. It was just a few hours on a holiday. This is HIS business that his daughters are trying to rip out of his hands. It ain’t gonna happen!

Vance has learned that Victor is planning on selling a huge corporation in Dubai – the one that Victoria worked on. She doesn’t think it’s a surprise. But Victor is having a fire sale so there will be less for Victoria and Abby should they win. If presented properly, the mediator will agree. He’s going to recommend a third of a NE should be placed in escrow which, as Victoria points out, will crush the business because of the restrictions. It’s up to Victoria and Abby, but Vance points out that Victor plays to win. If the girls aren’t they can kiss NE goodbye.

Billy holds baby Daisiel as Primrose gushes over her. Take a good look – he won’t see this little face unless... Billy instructs her to not let anyone else near her.

Knock knock at the tack house – it’s Diane (sans Kyle, who is out with Bonnie) with news that she’s moving to the ranch, into the carriage house. Has Kyle SEEN the pond yet? Diane comments that the neighbours are friendly enough (wink wink).

Nikki can’t be dismissed like one of his servants – she’s there to talk about their daughter. She reminds him how he loved her when she was a baby and how Victoria will never have that again because of the doctor’s news. He does ask how she is. But Victoria is preparing for battle. Their relationship has always been so special and everyone knows she is Victor’s favourite; it’s a tragic situation. He’s brilliant – if he cares he can fix it. Tearfully, she implies for him to prove that his daughter is more important than a lawsuit.

Outside his home, Billy needs to sell a chunk of stock ASAP. Busted by Victoria, he quickly hangs up and notes that she’s flushed. Either she has a fever or her visit with Nikki didn’t go well. Victoria says she’s sick of her trying to make peace with Victor. She admits she’s not handling the baby thing well. Billy says they’ll handle it however she wants. Oh and Vance stopped by with news. Awesome? Or unawesome? Victoria wonders if Billy ever noticed that Vance seems to be a shark. Nah, it slipped by him. She likens the fight to two black knights on black steeds ready to do battle. She can’t believe Victor would let it come to this. Billy says it’s because of Victor’s hatred for him. He thinks it flattery, Victoria thinks it irrational. Billy supports Victoria if she wants to drop the lawsuit.

Diane says no snowmobiles for Kyle; so snowshoes it’ll be. Diane says they’ll have to carpool the kids to Walnut Grove. Nick comments that it’ll be funny to see them in the back seat together. But the best part is that Diane is now always free for lunch. *vomit inducing kiss*

Faith is now happily playing with Sharon who will fight to keep them together. And everyone will have to accept her and Adam being together – especially Faith.

Billy points out they’ve got a big life with big dreams. They can drop the lawsuit and focus on the future but it’s too late – Victoria has to go through with it.

Victor says Victoria is as tough as any business man and doesn’t need Nikki’s protection. But could Victor stop being head of NE and be Victoria’s father for one moment? Nope – he tried to stop it but it’s all about Abby and Victoria’s defiance. It’s their fault. Nikki slams Victor’s attempts to stop it (dollar amounts on their love). If he goes through with it, he’ll lose his daughter. But he doesn’t give a damn. Nikki leaves when Victor’s phone rings in a timely fashion.

It’s Koa with their secret phrase. A guy came in – a tourist, maybe not. He’s going to send a photo. Yup, it’s Jack.

Jack is now talking with Nick – nothing left of the shack, it’s scorched earth. Yup, it burned down the same time Sharon found Skye. And guess what – Jack found Skye’s perfume. Oh my god – Sharon was telling the truth. This story has Victor’s finger prints all over it.

NEXT: Nina’s at Chance’s door to announce she’s donating part of her liver to him and she’s not going to take no for an answer. Jack holds a photo of Skye up to Koa and wonders how much Victor is paying him. He’ll double it. Victor wants Victoria to stop now or she’ll destroy the company that built the family.

My thoughts: So much attention about this pond. Has anyone told Kyle how many kids have fallen through the thin ice? And does this kid seriously lug around his hockey gear everywhere he goes? He was quite excited about his egg and bacon sandwich. Guess he must be missing the breakfast sandwiches from Tim Hortons in Toronto. It was really refreshing to see Sharon and Nick compromising. Too bad he had to turn around and suck face with his ex-stepmother. Oh yes Nick, it will be funny with Summer and Kyle in the back seat on the way to school. Will it be funny in a few years (or when they’re SORASed) when they’re making out in the back seat? Jack’s new “brah” must get all the local secret Hawaiian island news on his iPhone. Fresh back from Tahiti but he knows all about the burnt shack; well enough to use it as a landmark when giving direction. And I’m not sure I understand why Jack was talking about his brother unless that was part of his cover story. It seemed out of place. No more out of place than his flip flops in a burnt down (and likely unstable) building. Speaking of Billy, could this guy be any hotter? His body language spoke volumes as he held baby Daisiel.

Edited to correct Koa's name - thanks milesfam!
